"TI7RITTEN TENDERS will be VV received for cutting TOTARA SLEEPERS, with the right of j cutting other timber, out of a Govern* ment reserve of 470 acres, more or less, in the Manawatu District, to which the Government are now construing a branch railway from the main line, about 155 chains long, for the purposes of this contract. Genes ral conditions, specifications, &c, may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Foxton, Wanganui, and Wellington, where ako tenders are to be lodged, until NOON of Saturday, the 21st June, 1879, accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for one month, and to be in favour of the Receiver- General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. The land in this reserve, after the above contract is finished, will revert to the Feilding Corporation, who will then have power to deal with it as with their other lands. The attention of intend" ing contractors is specially drawn to this circumstance, as they might thus be enabled to acquire and settle on the lani after the completion of their contract. W KITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up to Noon on TUESDAY, the 3rd June, 1879, for the above Contract. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister, for Public Works, Wellington, and marked outside "Tender for Opaki Bridge." Plans and Specifications'may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Wanganui, Foxton, Featherston, and Wellington. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by Noon of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at any of the abovenamed offices by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for twenty-one days, and to be in favor of the Receiver-General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. PUBLIC WORKS, MANAWATU. DRAINAGE, CONTRACT No. 1. rpENDERS will be received at the L Public Works Office, Foxton, up to NOON on MONDAY, the 9th June, 1879, for cutting about three and a half miles of Drain in connection with the Kairanga Survey Block. Plaus and Specification may be seen at the railway station. Palmerston North, and the Public Works Office, Foxton, after the 28th May. Tenders must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, and marked outside, " Tender for Drainage, Contract No. 1 ." Tenders to be in proper form, and in case of telegraph tenders, a written tender must be lodged at a Public Works office. The lowest, or any tender, not necessarily accepted. JOHN T.
