MANCHESTER HIGHWAYS BOARD.
The usual meeting of the Manoheßter Highways Board, was held on Monday, May 5, 1879' Wardens present — Messrs Halcombe (in the chair), Macarthur, Bartholomew, and Bailey. A letter w*s received from Behrands, re outlet to culvert in Queen-street.
Resolved—" That the Engineer be instructed to ooustruct an open drain from Queen-street to the Makino stream, running through sections No. 44 and 46, Township of Feildiutr, as under subsection 9, clause, 89, " Public Works Act, 1876." Eesolved — " That with respect to the rates received from Messrs Shannon and others, of Wellington, and Sanderson of Halcombe — That until the new rate is ool« lected, the Board is not in a position to undertake any further works." Resolved— " That the Board pay H Booth 8s per week for the use of the office to hold their meetings." Resolved — "That the Engineer be instructed to employ roadmen at 7s per day," The Engineer's report was received re Suburban Road, and road to Swainson's siding. Resolved—" That the report be received and held over until the Board is ia funds." Resolved—" That as goon as the Board is
in funds, the bush bo cleared on the road to Swaiuson'B siding." Accounts amounting to £161 lls lid, were passed for payment. Reaolred— « That the Board meet again on Mondiy, 2nd Juno, at 3 p.m."
