FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
WeUnesUay, April 16. The Comirittfte met at 4.50 p.m. Preserit-s^The Chairman, Messrs* Ste-vart, M'Oulloch, Flower, Liddell, and Gray. Letter read from the Secretary to the Board, enclosing recommendations of a Mrs Colgan, who had ap» plied for the appointment of Schoolmistress at Foxton. The Committee felt it wonld be impossible to decide upon the credentials forwarded, ani determined to await further particulars before expressing an opinion. Considerable discussion took place upon the matter of schooldesks. Eventually,it was resolved, upon the motion of Mr Flower, "That the Board be requested to have the desks madfl 7ft long, and with slate-racks added." Two small accounts were passed for payment. A eire liar was received from the Education Department re the establishment of Penny Banks in Q-overn-ineni Schools. The Committee de« ter mined not to attempt to bring the matter into operation. ; The Committee then adjourned.
