The Hpecial train from Wang mvi to the place of sale conveyed about ninety people J it arrived at 11.35. Feilding was quite alive with the people, who comprised visitors from all parts of the district, and others from ( various places in tho colony. The sale was held in the tip-tiir portion of the busin.-ss premises recently ef ected by Mr J. M_yamor, the luncheon being laid ou the lower floor. At this time the i sale room commenced to till, and at 1.15, Mr Halcombe opened the proceedings by reading the conditions of sale, explaining each clause as he read, so that purchasers could make no mistake. Printed copies of tho conditions were distributed about the room, and elaborate maps of each division of land were also circulated. Mr Sht-rwill, who acted as auctioneer, then commenced selling. Bural sections 70, 75, 75a, and 75b, were withdrawn at the upset price — £3 per acre* Three seotions on tho Kimbolton Road, also found no bidders The next lot put up was the Corporation portion of the town of Ashhurst, in town sections. The first section was knocked down to Mr J. Kirk wood, at £70. The next two were knocked down to Mr Nelson for £40 and £60 respestively- Several other sections iv the township were then submitted, but the reserve prices were not reached, ahd the remainder of the sections were then withdrawn. Some sections of the M'Kenzie land followed, but no bids w-ro given. Three sections on the Napier and Palmerston coach road, wero sold as follows : — No 547, lr I4p, £45, E. Marsh ; 546, lr 87p, £2«, W. Tingay; 645, lr 20p, £61, Dr Spratt. Six other sections were put up, but the upset prices were not reached, and the lots were passed in. HALC.MIIE SUIIURBAN SECTIONS. The first six lots wera put up and passed in. The remainder were sold as follows : —

Some rural sections, situated at the back of the township, were next put up, but only three were quitted, viz : — 37a 2r, to Mr Johnston, at £10 per acre ; 44a lr 12p, at same price, to Mr Bradley; and 33a Or 24p, at same price, to Mr Powor. , There eividently being no demand for town lands, the township of Stanway was not put up. The sale concluded at 4.15 p.m., Mr Sherwill thanking those present for their attendance. On ly two sections were thrown up Those were by men who ha-1 bought under a mistake as to cash or deferred payment. The figures given above represent the price at which each section was knocked down ,' ie *vas impossible to obtaiu the particulars as to whether each item was bought on the cash or deferred payments ay-tern. Each section was started at un upset price. We desire to thank the auctioneers and their assistants, also Mr Beatty, accountant to the Corporation, for tho courtesy which was shown our reporter, and which enables us to present our reader* with the above particulars. We have to thank M- cars Halcombe and Sherwill for the following figures in regard to the sale, which were received by us by telegraph yesterday: — " The total sale realized £30,500. Average
