In view of the meetings to be held at Sanson ami Foxton next week regarding the Wellington Railway, a word or two addressed to our Olaki friends may not be out of place. Tuo line to Foxton will be of considerable importance to Otaki and the whole country between the two townships. The nearest port is the natural outlet for the Horowhcnua and Otaki districts. It will not pay to take produco 70 miles by rail to Wellington for shipment, when it can striku Foxton 25 miles nway. We therefore hope to see a spontaneous and united manifestation of opinion from the residents of Otaki in favor of the Foxtou line. They must not lose sight of the advantages of a shipping port, beeauso of a railway to Wellington. Water carriage is far chea ier than rail, and the more communication they hare with the outside world, the greater value will their laud acquire. We hope to hare tbe pleasure of reporting a public meeting on the question at Otaki shortly, and aL-o to see a number of the Southern teltlers at the Foxtcn meeting on February 6.
