i [Herald Special— By/J'eleqraph.] Wellington, Thursday, 7.15 p .m. The case of Miss Jones v. Kenneth Wilson, Principal of Wellington College, occupied the Hesident Magistrate nearly the: whole of the day. The first charge was that Mr Wilson h«i<i unlawfully detain id plaintiffs private letters and other of her property, for which she claimed £50 damages : it was decided in plaintiff's favor for full amount claimed, subject to reduction to £1 if the letters and other property were returned to Miss Jones within seren days. In the second case between the same parties, Miss Jones sought to recover £50 for wrongful dismissal from her office of matron at College. In her evidence Miss Jones accused Mr Wilson of making indecent overtures to her. Mr Wilson, on tho other hand, suspected plaintiff of lunacy, and had her examined, but Drs Diver and Newnidn refused to certify she was insane. Mr Wilson then had her lemoved. to lodgings by persuasion of, wife of Rev. Mr Coffey. Wilson paid iuto Court the sum of £6 due to plaintiff for wages, but the B M. gave judgment for an additional : month's wages as due in lieu of notice, Miss Jones came out from England with the Wilsons, aud has been about five years in their service. For fitst three years she received a salary of £20 per annum, which was increased to £30. Miss Jones is about 25 years of ago, ladylike, and prepossessing in appearance, and speaks two or three languages. Tho Court was crowded during the hearing of the case. The Colonial Secretary has made arrangements with Superintendent James for distribution •haritable aid formerly under codlrol of Inspector Atchison.
