' Anglican Chcbch. — The Key. Regatta Committee. — The Regatta Committee met on Saturday evening at Whyte'n Hotel, to settle up. The protest against the Minnie for the boys' race was not allowed, and the money was paid over to the crew, the Lily taking the second prize. One of the crew of the Black Eagle wrote, asking that the prize money might be paid over in his presence, but the request was not entertained, and the cheque was handed to Mr Jonson, who had entered the boat. . As the Swift got aground, and an oar was used to set her off, no second prize was given for sailing boats. BegarJing tho palr-oared race, it appeared the Wanganui men, who rowed the Maiden against the Roller, had stated they, would not pull, unless two prizes were given, a rule having been mad* that no second prize would be given if only two boats competed. The Secretary had acceded to their request ; and after a slight discussion his action was approved of. It was felt to be des'rable, however, that in all future cases of a similar character, a full quorum of the committee should decide the point before the race was started. The second prize in the Sculler's Race was increased from £1 10s to £2. No second prize whs given in the Handicap race for M>inawatu residents, as the Rose had withdrawn from the race. The settling was entirely satisfactory. The sum of £77 was paid away in prizeH, £26 10s going to Wanganui, and the remainder staying in Manawatu. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Hutchison for his zeal in fulfilling the duties of Hon Secretary. Several accounts were passed for payment, and so soon as the remainder are in, aud the outatauding subscriptions have been collected, another meeting will be held, and a resolution come to as to the balance in hand, which will probably be over £18. Rowing Cmjb.— The recent regatta appears to have given • considerable impetus to aquatics upon the Manawatu River. Indeed, c muttering the splendid capacities of the river for rowing purposes, the wonder is, that we are not already far more advanced in boatins matters. The meeting of the newly-formed RowiogClub on Saturday evening, at Whyte'e Hotel, was well attended. iMr J. T. Stewart, Vice-Presi-dent, occupied the chair. The minutes of laßt meeting having been read and confirmed, several new members joined. The question of rules was. considered, and a committee was appointed to prepare a draft copy to be presented at a meeting next Saturday. About 40 gentlemen have already joined the Club. The meeting considered the matter of a boating shed, and a committee was appointed to ascertain the cost and best ate fora suitable building near the ziver. The same committee an also to report as to the cost, &c, of the boats now in Foxton. We believe

it is intended to htart the Club's Beeonl year in October next, so as to purchwe u»w boats at ihe beginning of thu season. All subscriptions me to be paid in advance.
