Considerable indignation was expressed in Foxton, and throughout the district, yesterday, at tho non-arrival of the San Francisco Mail. It appears that the mails for this portion of tho Colony arrived at Wanganui per Stormbird, on Sunday evening, at 7 p.m., but owing to the carelessness of the officials (we can attribute it to no other cause), were left there until yesterday afternoon, when they were despatched by the down train. We trust the matter will be represented at the proper quarter, and .the.blame sheeted home to the proper per-* son. Jhe object of sending the mails for tho Manawatu district per Stormbird, was, to take advantage of the early down tr<t:n, but that object was frustrated by the negligence of the Wanganui officials. Had they been despatched in the usual course by the coach, the letters would have been received somo six hours before they really were. The
