JFOXTON LOCAL BOARD.

♦ — Foxtox LocAr. Boaiid. — A special meeting of the Boaid was held on Saturday last. Present— Messrs Liddell (Chairman), Crow* tLer, and Whyte. The only business done was to open tenders for the formation of the road and footpaths from London's store to the Avenue Bridge. The following tendeas were received: — Howe, Birchley, and Co., £200; Henry Blake, £i:JT ; George Cook, i.'l9<j. Ah the tenders of Messrs Bo we, Bicchley, and Co., and fcf. Blake, were informal, through the accompanying ohoquo not beiug marked good for fourteen days, and as the Engineer certified that Air Cook's tender was a lair price for fcho worl', upon tho motion of Mr Crowther, seconded by Mr Whyte, Mr Cook's tendor was accepted. The tioard then adjourned. A further meeting of the Buard was held at tho Board's office yesterday, at 3 p.m. Present — Msssra Liddell (chairman), Cook, Whyte, and Crowtbor. The minutes having been read and confirmed, The Chairman explained that tho meeting bad beon called regarding the appointment of members of the Harbor iioard, but it appeared the matter could not be discussed. Mr Gray, chairman of fh< Harbor Board, attended, and briefly explained tno provisions of the Act having reference to tiie appointments to be made. A lengthy discuesion took place regarding i section of land leased from Mr Gray at £13 per year as a roadway. The opinion was expressed by the whole of the members that the present arrangement was most unsatisfactory, and that it waa desirable to make the road. A large number of accounts were presented for payment, and it was proposed bj Mr Cook and seconded by Mr Crowther that that Messrs Cook and Crowther examine and report upon all accounts before being bronght before tho Hoard. Carriod. Tho valuation list was laid upon the table by the %aluer to tha Board. The Board then adjourned until Thursday at three p.m., when they will meet to pass the accounts.
