The corner stone of the second Primitive Methodist Church in Dun* ©din has been laid. Peter Skalen, a miner at Kumara, placed the muzzle of a gun in his mouth, and pulled the trigger with his toe, blowing the side of his head off. He had £80 on his person, and is supposed to have been insane. A great doal of damage has been done through floods in Westland. It will cost £1000 to repair the roads. The levels of three routes for Loop line have been burveyed at Greytown. Between three and four thousand people attended the sports in tho J Cricket Ground to-day. Close on 2000 went to Lovrry Bay. The weather has been beautiful.
