FOXTON LOCAL BOARD.
♦ I A meeting of the Foxton Local Board was held at Messrs Thynne, Linton aud Go's office, ori Tuesday last, ut 4 p.m. Present — Messrs Liddoll (Chairman), Whyte, Cook, Loudon, Orowther. Tl»o minutes having been read, Mr Loudon objected td the minute being passod, referring to the Clerk's salary until the books are squared. Ho asked whether Mr Ruck was still in the service of the Board. He moved a resolution to that effect. Mr CrdWtlief seconded the proposal saying he had voted for the reso« lution last meeting in the dark. He now wished the question held open. Mr Cook proposed as an amendment that the miriutes be confirmed. This was seconded by Mr Whyte and carried by the casting vote of the : Chairman. ] CORRSsrONDEXCE. Letter read fi'om tho Treasury, stating that £230 having been re- j ported by tho auditor as tho amount j of rate collected, that sum would be j held to fee the sum collected. i From the Land Tax Commissioner, asking to be furnished with a copy ef tho Valuation List of tho Eoai-d j aud asking information of the nanios | and addresso3 of tho valuers recently j employed by the Board. From same, acknowledging receipt of the Valuation List. From the Treasury, forwarding \ £12") Os Gd subsidy to tho Hoard.! for the half year ending olstDeccm- \ ber, 1878 being subsidy of 50 per j cent amount of rate collect en for half : year ending March 31 1878. From tho Auditor of L jual 13 oards, returning balance sheet. From \V. Gr. Ilobinson, applying for appointment as Clerk. ! GEXOIAL BUSINESS. j Long discussion took place upon j tho Auditor's letter, but nothing de- ' unite wa-3 come to. ■ . VALUER AND CLERK. j It was resolvod to call for tenders j for the oflice of Valuer and also ' Clerk and Collector for the Hoard, j Tenders to close o i the 18th inst, at 3 p.m each tender to be accompanied by a marked cheque for £10 to b 6 forfeifco I if the oiluie is not accepted | by the tenderer. It was proposed by Mr Whvte, that the iirst work undertaken by the Board be the formation of the road : from London's corner up the Avenue ito the Bridge, the footpath to be j formed oa the north side to Kirk's, land on the south side to liilleivs Hotel. Upon <he motion of Mr Cook, j seconded by Mr Ciowther, ib was resolved to call for tenders for forming and metalling th^ p.ithwaya on each j 1 side of .Main street, Foxton, com- | mencing at the Aw.ihou I] ridge, and i'lerminuting at Burr's corner on the | east side of the road ; also, for form- ] ing and metalling the pathway from I Me;uberry's to Mr Crowther's store.
