The prayer of the petitioners against use of steam on the tramway has not been acceded to. bat the Tramway Company will bo required
to adhere in future strictly to regulations, especially as regards speed. The .Royal commission appointed to inquire into the condition of the settlement at Jackson's Bay consists of Air Bunny, M. H,R., Dr Giles, and^ Whitefoord, fI.M. The Commission is to visit the settlement in the early part of January.
