Wednesday, December 4. (Before R. Ward, Esq., R.M., and E. S. Thynne, Esq., J.P.) INSULTING L4XGUAGE. Carl Ihorke, a German, was charged by J. F. Rockstrow with I using 1 insulting 1 language towards j him. Mrllulko was sworn as interpreter and Mr Staifce appeared for the defendant. From the evidence it appeared that complainant had acted as interpreter in a court case, and that sevoral witnesses were paid out of Iherke's money ; lie has since repoa'e Jly charged complainant with having swindled him out of the amount in 1 question. Plaintiff stated he did not wish to press tliu charge, as his ob> jsot was merely »o show the defeni dant hfi had not iho money. I Tho Court dismissed the case with I costs, 9s, as there was not sufficient evidence adduced in support of tho charge. Henrich John, a companion of the defendant in the previous case, was ! then charged with a similar offence j towards the same complainant. : Corroborative evidence was given j by Mr A. Gray, and defendant was j fined 10s and casts, 63 Gd. i DItUNK. j The same defendant was then ! charged with being drunk in the j streets of Foxfcon. Evidence was I given in support of the charge* by j Lh' Rockstrow, Constable Purcdll, j and Mr Gray. j Defendant and Messrs Iherke and ; Backendal gave evidenca for the defence. John was fined 10s and costs, 6s I Gd. j HORSES AND CATTLE AT L.VnQE. I Jas. Coley, for allowing a cow to wander at large, was fined 03 and 6s Gd costs. T. Bo we, for allowing a horse to wander, was fined Is and costs. W. Williams, for allowing 3 hoad of cattle to be at large, was fined 3s ond costs, Gs Gd. T. Bo we was fined Is, and costs, 7s Gd, for allowing 3 cattle to waaJer. TETHERING ANIMALS. W. Williams was charged with tethering a horse and two cows on | No I Liuo of Road. Mr Thynne ! corroborated tho constable's evidence in support of the charge, and stated Williams was also in the habit of tethering 1 his pigs oa tho road. Fined ss, and costs, (Js t> J. !
