SAXDOST. RAILWAY. It was proposed, by Mr Sanson, seconded by Mr Gower, and carried ; — That the consent of this I Couucil be hureby given to the Foxj ton and Sandon Hailway Company to construct a railway on the county Road, leading from Carnarvon June tion to Sanson, and thence to the Bridge over the liangitikei 'River, situated botween Sanson and Bulls. FINANCE COMMITTEE. Upon the motion of Mr Sauaon, it j was resolved thtit the Chairman and Messrs Gowor and Rockstrow be a Committee to examine all accounts previous to being paid by this Council. The County Engineer reported upon the dilapidated condition of the Ooua Bridge. Resolved upon the motion of Dr Hokstrow, seconded by Mr Linton, that the County Engineer call for tenders for erecting a Bridge ovor the Oroua Stream. Tenders to close at the next council mooting OTAKI FERRY. Some furthur correspondence having been read, relative to the Otaki ferry, it was proposed by Mr HalI combe, seconded by Mr Sanson and carried: — That the Chairman and Mr Kebbell be requested to ascertain in what position Mr Udy is as regards the terms on which he holds his license, and to take the necessary steps to protect the interests of the pnblic ; also, to take a legal opinfon as to Mr Udy's right to shut up the inland road. WANGANUI HOSPITAL. An offer from the Wanganui Corporation relative to the reception of patients at their Hospital on half cost being guaranteed was accepted,

and It was also resolved, on the mo* tion of Mi- Sauson :— "That each councillor have power to send any < patient to the Wanganui HospifcaljP on terms agreed to by this couucil ; provided that each Councillor satisfy himself as to the state of health of such patient, his fitness to be admitted to auch Hospital, and of h's or her ability to pay his or her own expenses tor such attention. MISCELLANEOUS. Upon the motion of Mr Linton, it was resolved to deepen the Awapuni outlet, the Government having promised to bear one half the cost. The Engiueer was instructed to spend £151 in seeming and levelling the sandhills on the (Jarnarvon^Sandon Uoad, the work to be proceeded with at once by the day. (Mr Gowar.) The Council resolved to make application to the Government to expend without delay the sum set apart for opening up the Kiranga Block, near Paltneroton, according to a vote of the General Assembly. The Chairman was requested to writ© to the Waste Lands Board on the Buine subject. (Mr Linton.) The Chairman was requested to enquire of the Government what portion of the £10,000 voted last session for roads through deferred payment land is due this county and when it wV.I be made payable. (Mr Carr.) The balance of the Taonui Land Fund for September (£105,) it was decided to hand over to the Manawatu Highways Board to be spent on the Road leading from the Gorge to the Bridge through Fitzherbeit. (Mr Linton.) The £300 roted for widtning and grading the Gorge Road between laltnenton and the Manchester lloundary, ia t» be spent immediately, and tenders are to be called at once. (Mr Linton.) The Engineer was instructed to report on the unbridged creek on the main rood lending to Ofc tki ; and whether it bo advisable to erect a bridge, or lower the water by cleaning out the creek, (&£r KebbellJ. Councillor Uower waa appointed County Treasurer, and Councillor Kockstrow was appointed to sign cheques. (Mr Linton.) I The sum of ££ib 10s is to be handed orer to the Mamiwatu Hi .hways board for expenditure on Jones' and the Campbelltown roads ; also, £302 for the Whale lino of road ; tho works to be proceeded with at once. (Mr Gowor.) The Chairman was instructed to write to tho Government, and ask them to push on tho surrey of the West Coast Railway. Rockstrow.) The next meeting of the Council will take place on Friday, 20th December, at 2.30 p m. XOTICE OP MOTION. Dr Bockatrow will move at next meeting that the Moutoa road from Burr's corner to a point near Howe's farm, be declared a County Road. I - -
