A 111061111": of tlio Foxtou Local Board was hflll at the Clerk's Oifice, Foxton, on Friday last, at 2.30 p.m. Present — Messrs. Liddell I (Chairman), Whyte. Cook, aiid [Orowther. ; The minutes of the last meeling (held on tho 'sth August), were road | and confirmed. I clerk's salary. I Some discussion took place upon i tho remuneration to be paid to the i Cleric and Collector, Mr K. S. Thynne. lit was proposed by Mr Whyte, ! seconded by Mr (Jook and carried unanimously, "that Mr Thynue be paid at the rato of £50 per year, ! from tho fifth day of August last, ! for acting- a.3 Clerk and Collector to i the Board." Mr Thynue intimated that directly the affairs of the Board wero put straight he intended to resign. SEW P-UVE. Proposed by Mr Wlryte, seconded by Mr Cook," that it is the intention of this BoarJ, on Tuesday, the 10th of December, to strike a rate on all the rateable property within, the District, of one shilling in the poun.l, commencing from tho first daj' of March last, and tho same shall bocoma due aud payable on the eleventh day of December next, at the offices of the Board." Curried. TUB AFFAIUS OF THE lOAUU. A considerable discussion took i place upon the dilatory action of the I Auditor, Mr Macalistor. It ap- : peai'ed the whole of the accounts had i been scut down to Wellington by his I request, on the 1 lth of October ; but nj reply whatever had been received ; from him. The whole of the memj bers expressed themselves very strongly upon this matter. Eventually it was proposed by Mr Crowther and seconded by Mr Cook, *' That the Chairman be loquested to write to tho Auditor, and ask him to endeavour to send up the Hoard's balance-sheet and books before tho jdate mentioned for striking a rate." Carried. It was resolved to make the necessary announcements re the rato iv the Mauawatu Herald. j The Board then adjourned.
