PRESBYTERY MEETING
The Presbytery of Wellington mot at Foxton on the 20th instant. Present — Hevs Duncan (moderator), Paterson, Ross, Allsworth, Doull, and Stewart; aud Mr J. M'Lean (elder.) The ltev Mr JJruce, of Auckland, agent-general of tlio Church, being present, was associuted with tho Probbytery.
In view of the approaching vacancy, by tho resiy nation of Mr Johnston, in \Vaihouga, the I'rosbytery rcsolvej to take steps to secure the services of a clergyman soon expected from Scotland.
The Presbytery took iuto consideration the ministerial supply required for the Feildiu* and Pulmerston district. Messrs P. Stewart und G. Bruco appealed as a deputation to tho Presbytery from these townnhips. It was resolved that the members of Presbytery be appointed to preach in the district, or otherwise find a supply, every Sabbath uutil the arrival of a preacher
from Scotland, who is exported sometime j iv January. Commissioners were elected us members of tho General Assembly, to meet nt Christchurch in March of next year. These were — Revs Allswoith, Treudwell, Uoss, and Doall, iind Messrs M'Le:M, Wingate, Strachan, and M l Grregor (elders).
The Ray Mr Paterson informed tho members of Presbytery that J. C. Crawford, lisq, lote U.M., had kiudly granted sections of land for Church purposes in Kilberaie and S.'ttoun, which are likely soon to become lashio.iable suburbs iv tho viciuity of Wellington.
