ANOTHER MO A STORY.
The following appears in tlie New Zealand Times : —
Sir,— Would you kindly insert this iii your newspaper ? Last autumn 1 and niy mate were out prospecting for gold betwixt' Lake liotorua aad the Cannibal Gorge in the province of Nelson. We heard a strange screeching noise in a <*ully about a hundred yards from where we were camped, and we went to whore the noise proceeded from, and to our surprise we saw two gigantic birds coming towards us. They did not show the least alarm at sHeiug us, but continued coming to where wo wero, so we took to our heels. We heard them two or threo times that mght again. Having no gun with us wo thought it advisable to start the next morning, for fear they would taokle us. One of them was appaiontly about twelve feet high, au d the other somewhat smaller, with features resembling the kiwi's. I have no doubt but they woie moas. I have mentioned it to several persons, and did intend going out in search of them this summer, but hearing that a party were forming in Wellington t; so in search of moas, I thought I wouTd\s acquaint you with these facts, and it' they should start out I would advised them to como here in search of them, •■' and we would be most happy to direct them or to conduct them to the spot where we saw them.— l am, &c, Alphed Bekky.
