The Foxtox Wharf. — In his last issue, referring to the reported appointment of Mr Marcus, as assistant-ir.anager upon the our Wangauui-Manawatu railway Palnierston contemporary expressed a hope that should such a chango occur, " much of the delay hitherto experienced in forwarding the goods 'would be dono away with." In justice to the two Foxton officials who are interested in- the remarks — Messrs Gibsou and Synions- — we desire to testify to the unromitting energy they display in forwarding goods is early as possible from Foxton. The up-country goods are always sent away by tha first train after the ship is discharged, and we krow tho officials mentioned frequently work long after hours so as to send away tho stuff per early train. Wo should not have referred to the matter, but for tho fact that we know tho two gentlemen mentioned do ihoir level best to serve the up country districts.

To-night. — Mr Loudon will address the Foxton electors to-night. As considerable interest attaches to tho contest, and as Mr Loudon is an old representative of the Hiding, we anticipate a large audience.
The Immigrants. — The male immigrants arrived on Tuesday p<?r Jane Douglas, from Wellington. They were a fine, able-look-ing body of men, capable of becoming in the first place, good laborers, and we hope in the end settlers nnd landowners themselves in the district.
