V Afire occured at Kaitaugata at 2 .30* on Suuday morning, by which a cot- , tago, stable, and three valuable borses belonging to the Kaitangata Coal Company were consumed. The cottage was occupied by a man named William Baiu, who was absent at tho time of the fire. His loss is furniture and clothes. The value of the horses and buildings is estimated at £250, insured. The three horses were trained to work in the mine, and some tiintf must elapse before other horses can be trained in the same way. The origin of the fire is unknown. Dua'edix, September 9, The Governor and nearly all the northern visitors loft for Ghristchurch by Uie 7 o'clock train this morning.
