SILENT SERVICE TO TALK. "BUBBLES" JAMES'S JOB.
SYDNEY, Jan. 21. With the appointment of Admiral Sir William James as Chief of Naval Infcrmation at the Admiralty, some of the silence will be taken from the Silent Service, reports a Sydney Morning Herald correspondent from London. It is a break from naval tradition which is welcomed as an indication that the public at last will be allowed to know something more of the Navy's heroic wartime task. The Admiralty is known to have been considering such a post for some time, but the chief difficulty has been finding a suitable senior officer free from a command. Admiral Sir William James, who retired last Octotoer after three years as commander-in-chief at Portsmouth, will devote his time solely to publicity matters, obtaining and eoordinating naval information, and making it available to the public. It is recalled that his grandfather, Sir John Millais, painted his grandson, then aged five, in the famous picture, "Bubbles."
