APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS. The foliowing appointments and promotions in the New Zealand military forces have been gazetted: Staff — Major (temp.) G. H. Macan, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed officer commanding a composite company N.Z.A.S.C., and an A.S.C. base training depot. Captain F Reid, 2nd N.Z.E.F., is appointed deputy-assis-tant director of ordnance services of a division and is granted the tempcrary rank of major. N.Z. Permanent Staff — Captain and Quartermaster (temp.) A. Holmes is granted the temporary rank of major and quartermaster while employed as commandant of a district schocl of instruction. N.Z. Temporary Staff— Captain L. C. Hardie, B.Sc., Staff Officer (Forts), Army Headquarters, to be major (temp.). 2ND N.Z.E.F. Commands and Staff — LieutenantColonel J. T. Burrows, Southern Infantry, is appointed to command a battalion. Major D. J. Fountaine, M.C., Southern Infantry, is appointed second in command of a battalion. Major C. Langbein, N.Z. Engineers, is appointed to command an engineer and ordnance training depot. Major H. G. Burton, ' Central Infantry, is appointed to command a battalion temporarily and is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant - colonel. Captain (temp. major) G. McCallum, N.Z. Dental Corps, is promoted major and appointed to command a camp dental hospitah N.zJ Medical Corps — The undermentioned captains to be majors: J. Dempsey, Captain (temp. major) W. J. Boyd, Captain (temp. major) A. L. Lomas, M.C. N.Z. Army Pay Corps: Captain L. A. Greig, to be major. N.Z. Artillery — Captain D. B. Patterson to be major Ctemp.) while commanding a battery. N.Z. Infantry — Captain W. Dickson, North ern Infantry, to be major (temp.), while commanding a company. Captain A. E. Burge, Central Infantry, to be major (temp.) while employed as deputy-assistant adjutant general of a division. Captain C. Williams, Northern Infantry, to be major (temp.) while commanding a company. Captain D. A. Wilson, Central Infantry, to be major (temp.) while commanding a company. v
