Bad weather marred the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting at Trentham on Saturday, but in spite of this there was a very large attendance and an increase in totalisator turnover. The racing track was soft and slow to start v/ith, as a result of heavy rain during the early morning hours, but v/hen the weather conditions continued showery during the afternoon the ground became heavy and there was a torrential and prolonged shower before the last race. The totalisator handled £90,237 (win £37,738, place £52,499) compared with £85,156 for the first day last year. Results: — Glen Hurdle Handicap, 12 miles: 2-3 Student Prince (E.
