v "Can we not get away from this Americanism?" asked Mr A. H. Johnstone, K.C., at a meeting of the Auckland University College Council, when the word "cafeteria" was used in a committee report. Mr Johnstone suggested that "refectory" might be used instead, as more befitting the dignity of a university. "I think we are fighting a losing battle," remarked the president, Mr W. H. Cocker.
