DEVASTATION IN CALIFORNIA.

NEW YORK, Oct. 23,
A vast three-day bush fire devastated wide areas of the Santa Monicai Mountains in California, leaving scores of people burned and injured, including twelve seriously. Twentyfive homes, including pretentious mansions, were destroyed. The fires continue to rage in the Melibu Hills, farther west, forcing thousands temporarily to evacuate threatened areas. '
