In bright moonlight last night the R.A.F. heavily bombed targets at Genoa. None of our aircraft is missing. It was the biggest raid so far made on Italy, and the city, pilots stated, was left enveloped in flames. Genoa is a great naval base as well as the centre.of many of Italy 's most important war factories. These inolude the Ansaldo motor-works, which produce aircraft, munitions and bombs. From Genoa Axis sup plies are shipped to North Africa. Genoa is 750 miles from Britain and the raiders had to cross 1200 miles of enemy-occupied territory and cross the Alps twice. This was the seventh raid on Genoa. Rome radio announced that the King and Queen of Italy paid a surprise visit to the shattered city. Wellington and Mosquito bombers ranged over Holland and Germany during to-day, while Mustangs and Spitfires made sweeps over I^orthern France. The Air Ministry announces that a strong force of aircraft of Bomber Command went to Genoa. The weather over the target was good and in bright moonlight many heavy bombs were dropped on objectives. Very large fires were seen.
