NO DECISION YET
QUESTION OF SHOOTING SEASON.
P.A.
WELLINGTON, Oct. 24.
Whether there would be a shooting season next winter was discussed at a meeting of the North Island Acclimatisation Societies' Council, at which there was also present the president of the South Island Council, Mr Ct. L. Pomfret-Dodd. Later members of the Council met the Prime Minister as a deputation to obtain his view. Mr Fraser said that a reply could not be given until later. He added that he appreciated the viewpoints expressed by the representatives of the societies, and he regretted not bing able at present to give a; definite reply to the request. He could give an assurance, however, if matters developed satisfactorily between now and May, the request of the societies would be carefully reviewed.
