Mr T. S. Horn's appointment as Consul of the United States at Wellington was gazetted last night. Group Captain A. de T. Nevill has been promoted to be acting air commodore, according to last night 's Gazette. Second-Lieutenant P. R. Freybcrg relinquished his commission in. the Second N.Z.E.F. on March 27 on being appointed to a commission in the Grenadier Guards, states last night's Gazette. Mr C. Robertson, who has been inspector of schools in the Auckland district for seven, years, has been appointed, acting senior inspector of schools at the Education Department's office in Wellington.
The Metropolitan, Arehbishop O'Shea, arrived by air from Wellington yesterday. He will conduct a confirmation service at St. Mary's j Church on Sunday afternoon, and another at Picton in the evening. On Tuesday he will confirm in Blenheim children from Seddon and Ward. The death occurred to-day of Mr Lauritz Schwass, of Redwood street. The deeeased, who was formerly einployed as a driver by the Marlborough Brewery Company, was aged 75. The interment will take place at the Omaka Cemetery to-morrow aiternoon. Guests at the Criterion Hotel last night included Mr C. H. Wood (Wellington), Mr I. D. McKenzie (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs RittsonThomas (Kekerangu).
