v— — During a discussion at the meeting of the South Canterbury Power Board on the removal of trees which endangered power lines, it was stated that the board's axeman could fell a tree exactly where he wanted it to fall. The chairmqn, Mr G. Dash, recalled that some trees had been felled near a church, but the first one brought down had done £10 worth of damage. After that they engaged the board's axeman, and the other trees were brought down without further damage. Mr M. H. Richards : He is pretty good ; isn 't he a New Zealand champion axeman? Mr Dash: He was a champion in Australia.
