PRECAUTIONS AT DAKAR
PREFARING FOR ALLIED ATTACK.
P.A. Cable
LONDON, Oct. 20.
Native troops in French Guinea are reported to be preparing defence postitions along the Sierra Leone border against a possible Allied advlance against Dakar from Freetown, says the Madrid correspondent of the Daily Mail. Gbservers point out that a land assault against Dakar through French Guinea and Senegal would be resisted mainly by natives lacking tanks. Intensive training of the new Senegalese battalions has been in progress in the last 18 months. It seems fairly ob-vious that Petain's recent conferences with military and naval ofAcials was concerned with the defence of Dakar.
