MILITARY MEDAL
AWARD TO TWO N.Z. SOLDIERS. ESCAPEES FROM GREECE.

WELLINGTON, Oct. 22.
Military Medals have been awarded to two New Zealanders who have returned to their units after being posted missing in the eampaign in Greece, They are Driver ' Edward Frederick Foley (next-of-kin, Mrs M. K. Foley, Auckland), and Staff Sergeant William George Penney (next-of-kin, Mrs B. Penney, Kaikohe). Driver Foley was born at Awanui in 1917. He enlisted in October, 1939, and left New Zealand with the First Echelon in the Reserve Motor Transport Company. He was reported missing after the Greek eampaign in June, 1941, and after the occupation of that country by the enemy he escaped, and returned to Egypt in June, 1942. Staff Sergeant Penney was born at Whangaroa in March, 1906. He enlisted in September, 1939, and left New Zealand with the Second Echelon. He was reported missing in Greece, then reported a prisoner of war. He was reported safe in a New Zealand base camp in the Middle East last June. ,
