MADAGASCAR BOMBARDMENT.
VICHY-FRENCH COMMUNIQUE. P.A. Gable. LONDON, Oct. 20. A Vichy communique states: "The British attack yesterday against positions in the Ambositra sector was preceded by a systematic bombardment in which thousands of shells Were dropped on our improvised trenches. Our troops, although hardpressed from every side, obliged the enemy to retreat."
