ONLY 1600 ISSUFD LOCALLY. 11,200 TO GO IN LIMITED PERIOD The issue of new ration books in Elenheim is proceeding more slowly than was expeeted and some people may find themselves in difficulties of they do not make application without delay. Only a fortnight is being aliowed to put the new issue into circulation and up to 9 a.m. to-day only just over 1600 new books and 294 extra clothing sheets for children had gone out of a total of 12,800 books and 5000 extra clothing sheets for children. On Monday 851 books and 150 children's clothing sheets were issued anct yesterday the figures were 811 books and 140 sheets. The public should remember that with the Labour Day holiday on Monday, there will only be 4| issuing days next week before the close of the issuing period. In order to cope with the increased response expeeted, the office will oe open from 7 to 8.30 p.rn. on Friday. 'Ihe work of the issuing staff would be considerably expedited and inconvenience to others rninimised if applicants would, as requested earlier, write in their respective books the birth date of children under 17 next January on the O coupon counterfoil in the place marked for the retailer's name.
