DEPUTATION ARRANGED
REQUEST FOR COBB STEEL. BOARD TO BE REPRESENTED. Advice was received that the Waimea Power Board had had the progress of the Cobb scheme under diseussion. It seemed, stated a letter from the board, that there should be no delay in the completion of the work — with the exception of the pipe line. It was understood that the biggest percentage of steel required for the pipe line was available, leaving* about 200 tons still to be obtained. The Waimea Board was of the opinion that the completion of the scheme would undoubtedly contribute towards the war effort and it was thought that the Government should be urged to make the necessary steel available so that the hydro works might be completed and brought into production as early as possible. For this reason arrangements were being made for a deputation to meet the Minister for Public Works and other appropriate Ministers, and the Marlborough Board was asked if it desired to be represented. The board" decided to appoint its chairman to take part in the deputation which will probably take place next week. v
