JAPS ON GUADALCANAR SHELLED. The U.S. Navy Department announces that American surface a ships bombarded the Japanese BL on north-western Guadalcanar, causing heavy explosions and fires. » Direct hits were obtained on ammunition dumps. The Department also announced : "On Sunday 20 bombers escorted by 20 Zero fighters attacked our positions on Guadalcanar.
