Post Office Savings Bank deposits in July (£3,232,957), according to the August Abstract of Statistics, were higher than in anv month (at least since 1928), and compare with £2 - ■867,254 for the previous month. Withdrawals £1,990,594) were on the low side, and the excess of deposits over withdrawals for the month reached the record high flgure of £1,242,363.
