BRITISH OCCUPY AMBOSITRA.

B.O.W. RUGBY, Oct. 17. British forces in Madagasear have occupied Ambositra, 142 miles southwards of the capital, Antananarivo, says a commiinique from the Commander- inChief East Africa. Ambositra fell after stiff fighting in which we took 170 prisoners. Vichy radio broadcast this appeal to the people of Madagascar: "Keep your faithfulness to France now that the greater part of the island is in the enemy's hands, despite heroic resistanee" The radio urged civilians and officials to remain at their posts and continue working in the interests of their country, but absolutely respecting their oath to Marshal Petain.
