NEW YORK, Oct. 15.
The New York Times's Washington correspondent says that an offlcial unnouncement that American
soldiers iiave1 joincd the Marines in the Solomons, where the Army Air Force nad been operating since the start of operations, was made coincident with Mr Stimson's statement showing that American Armv units are now scaftered through most of the P'acifxc bases. It speciflcaily revealed cfficially for the first timo that both Army air and ground forces are now in New IZeaiand, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, anu the Fiji Islands. Hitherto New Zealand and New Caledonia had been known primarily as American naval bases.
