LIBERTY LOAN
MARLBOROUGH TOTAL £5910. Investments in the Second Liberty Loan still come in slowly from the Province. This is the busiest time of the year for the bulk of the people and no doubt it is difficult for farmers, especialiy, to come in and make their arrangements. There were no investments recorded on Thursday, but £1110 worth of stock was taken up yesterday. much of it in small amounts. The provineial total is now £5910. F.U. INVESTS £50. At the meeting of the Blenheim branch of the Farmers' Union last night a decision was reaehed to invest £50 in the second Liberty Loan. The secretary reported that after meeting Dominion and Provineial levies and paying all accounts there v/as a credit of £91 which would have to carry them on till March 31. About £40. he estimated, would be sufficient. The president, Mr J. B. Barnett, moved that the secretary be instructed to invest £50 in the short term stock in the second Liberty Loan. It v/as only a small amount, but all should help. Mr H. G. Woolley seconded the motion. Mr E. W. Rose: It is up to us to help. The money will do more good in the Loan than in the bank. Mr S. W. Jordan: We're lending to help win the war. The only nigger in the woodpile is that members may say we're ehar'ging too much and we should cut down the subs. The president: We've no say in that. The Dominion executive fixes the amount. The investment motion was carried unanimously.
