ENTRENCHED IN KINWHA

JAPANESE NOT DISLODGED.

B.O.W.

RUGBY, Oct. 15.

For the last 75 days, states a Chinese authority in London, the Chinese in the Chekiang-si area have been attacking the towns of Lanchi and Wuyei, both north-west of the key city of Kinhwa, which is still in Japanese hands. "During the past fortnight the Chinese have concentrated on disrupting Japanese communications between Kinhwa and Shanghai, with the object of preventing supplies arriving from Hangchow and Shanghai, and have destroyed several bridges on the Kinhwa-Lanchi highway. The Japanese are still firmly entrenchcd at Kinhwa, but Chinese mopping-up operations proceed incessantly. Fighting has occurred in the Suiyuan area, but there is still no indication of the next Japanese move in the Chinese war theatre.
