FARMERS' LABOUR NEEDS.

APPEAL FOR INFORMATION. (To The Editor.] Sir, — Owing to the meagre response to a recent appeal to farmers to supply details of labour required, J both permanent and casual, to mahitahi production on the farm, I would like to draw the attention of all farmers who may have missed the notice to the purpose whicli is firstly, to lielp them and, secondly, to help their production council to do the job that it is intended it should do. Our function is to report on needs of the district (which is quite a large and scattered one, extending from the Conway to Rai Valley), for shearing labour, planting of crops, harvesting etc., and to ascertain the averages of wheat, peas, potatoes, etc., planted, or likely to be planted. This information is wanted from every individual grower outside a borough area who grows one acre or more. With local committees now set up, their job is to supply a list of acres sown and labour required. This is to be given to the council 's secretary. No returns are required where less than one acre is sown. I put it to farmers : Your job is to .help us to complete the returns. It is, as you will see, a big job. It is an urgent and important job. Your response will be ■ a helping hand in winning the war. .Don't wait until the committee-man has to call on you. Remember that he also is a busy man. It will only take you a few minutes to pen the information, and it may take your committee-man an hour to go and get it. Save time. Don't leave it until to-morrow ; do it to-day. Production is vital and urgently required. I appeal again to all farmers to treat this matter as one of importance. Your cocperation in compiling this necessary information will greatly assist us to assist you. Do your part, and do it to-day.

E. C.

LAWRENCE,

Chairman,

Marlborough Production Council. V
