BRAZIL'S IMPORTANT PART IN WAR.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13.

The Navy Secretary, Colonel Knox, told the Press that considerable additions to the Brazilian fleet were now on the ways at Rio de Janeiro and nearly ready to go to sea. These would make a material addition to the naval and submarine patrols. He cited this as an instanee of the hundred per cent. eo- operation of the Brazilian armed forces. Colonel Knox said that a large part of the aetivity in the Brazilian area was by air and was critically important. The Brazilian people were extremely cordial to the United States and were overwhelmingly in favour of the Brazilian administration in its war measures,
