ST. PETER'S GUILD. E^press Special Service. A meeting of St Peter's Guiid was held last week in the Sunday school, the Rev. Ii. J. Flatt being in the chair. There were present Mesdames Banham, Hardy, Pike, Twiale, Cantrell, Reader, Weils and Naylor, and Miss K. Reader (the secretary and treasurer). The Rev. Mr Flatt gave a report of the vcstry meeting held recently and stated that the sustentation fund was in a satisf.actorv position. He had received from Mr T. Horton a snm of £3 odd which had been in hand from the Young People's Club, now closed, This, he said, had been offered to him tc be spent 011 improvements to the church, and it was decided to purchase new hymn books if suitable ones could be procured. Mr Flatt stated that the vestry hoped to have a Temple Day on December 8 to help to pay the interest on the new vicarage. Guild members remarked upon the imprcvement which the new baptistery had made to the church, and it was hoped that it would be possible to cibtain a new font later on as the old ohe was in a dilapidated condition. It was decided to hold a, meeting early in December to review the guild funds. SCHOOL C O MMITTEE. At the meeting of the School Committee last week there were present Messrs W. H. B. Orsman (the chairman), W. S. B. Hardy, E. H. Jones, H. Laing (the headmaster), and R. L. Mills (the secretary). Leave of atasence was granted to Mr R. N. C. Wratt. Mrs Barclav wrote tendering her resignation, as infant mistress as she had been promoted to the Riverton school. She thanked the chalrman, teachers and committee for the welccme gift which she received on her departure. Her resignation

Brown. supervisor of manual instruction, visited the school and gave a vsry favourable report on the boys' work. Miss Mcllarl physical instructress, also uisited the scliocl, giving lessons and demonstratlons in physical education. The school roll numbers were: Senior 28, middle 32. iimior 30, total 90. Aecounts passed for payme.nt totalled £9 ils lld. WOMEN 'S INSTITUTE. The mont.hiy meeting cf the Havelock Suburban Inslitute was held in the hall last week, ten members and three visitors being" present. The roll call was well responded 10 in the form of contribut ions of old linen, bottles and jars for the Red Cross. The competitlon "Something new and something old," was won bv Mrs J. Brownlee. with Mrs D. Higgins second. The resultsi of the best bloom competition were Mrs J. w. Price first, Mrs D. Higgins second; amateur Miss Farnell first, Mrs J. Brownlee second. Mrs H. Neumann agreed to take charge of the ernergency box for use in case of evacua,tion. A letter was received in reference to the visit of Miss Cocks Johnston, and also one in regard to the Massey College box. The report of the half-yearly council meeting was read bv the delegate, Miss Higgins. The hostesses for the afternoon wero Mrs J. Brownlee and Miss Farnell. PLUNKET MEETING At the recent committee meeting of the Havelock sub-branch of the Plunket Societv the secretary omitted to state that of the £15 13s sient in by Canvastown £3 5s represented the annual quoca and the remaining £12 8s was given as a donation; also' that votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs St J. Ball and Mrs A. Monahan for their generous help in organising the dance recently held at Canvastown for Plunket funds-. PERSONAL. Mrs D. Hudaleston and her two children are visiting Mr and Mrs Simmonds, Havelock Suburban. Miss I. Scott, who has boen the guest of Mrs A. L. Reader. lefti last week to take up her residence in Nelson. Mrs W. Naylor is visiting her daughter. Mrs J. Glover, Grovetown.
