JUSTICES OF THE PEACE

MARLBOROUGH ASSOCIATION. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Marlborough Justices of the Peace Association was held in the Ritz last evening. Mr B. J. Cooke (presiderit) was in the chair and there were some 20 members present. Mr Cooke read a number of apologies, and welcomed Messrs H. F. Pickett (Havelock) and G. T. F. Sutton (Mahakipawa), new members. He also extended a cordial welcome to Sergeant Allsop and Constable Bourke, and included in the welcome the member for the district, Mr E. P. Meachen. The report and balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory financial position, and were adopted on the motion of Mr Sutton, seconded by Mr F. Broughan. Votes of condolence were passed to the relatives of Messrs P. J. Galliers and A. M. Thomson, the members standing in respectful silence. A tribute was paid to Mr Galliers's services. He was the first Registrar of the Association and had been for many years a member of the council. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
