The Danish Free Corps (ccmposed of Danish Nazis) is returnrng to Russia on Tuesday after four weeks' leave which, savs Berlin radio, was granted by Himmler as a reward for bravery, although the average Dane feared that thcy mignt rernain in Denmark. The Stockholm newspaper Afton Tidningen, says that the unrest and subsequent state of emergency in the Trondheim district of Norway is believed to be due to the German requisitioning of 220.000 cows, oneseventh of Norway s cu.ttle, for transportation to other areas of occupied Eurone. A Berne despatch quotes a report from Vichy that the Government has imposed a heavy new tax to provide a premium for French families who undertake to work in Germany. A special division of the Douai Appeal Court sentenced to death m their absen.ee four "Communist terrorists" and lmprisoned for life a woman inn-keeper for allegedly sheltering Communists. According to reliable Swedish sources, Himmler promised Hitler that not a single Jew will be left in Germany by the end of 1942. Berlin is at present the only place in Germany where Jews may remain in appreciable numbers. Despite the shortage of rolling stock Jews from Germany are regularly moving eastward where they are accommodated in overcrowded grettos andprimitive labour camps in the Polish and
White Russian marshes Some Jews were executed immediately on their arrival ac special execution centres near Warsaw, .Minsk and Lwow. The Jew dcportation scheme is likely to be applied toi the whole of German, -occupied iEurope. Even ihe Germany are reported to be amazed at the gigantie preparations of the scheme. Some Geiinans are also aniazed at the surprismgly feeble reaction outside Gertmany. The Tass agency states that 2000 have died in, the last three moiiths at Dachau concentration camp from hunger. disease and torture. The guerillas freed 900 children prisoners from a concentration camp at Jastrebarsk near Zagreb in Croatia.
