B.O.W.

RUGBY, Oct. 10.

Forty-eight enemy aircraft were destroy ed by the U.S. Flying Fortress and Liberator Bombers during the raid on German-held industrial establishments at Ulle yesterday morning. A further 38 were probably destroyed and 19 damaged. Most of the German fighters were the latest Focke-Wulfs. It is also revealed that 115 bombers took part in the operation and only four were lost. Not one of the 500 odd R.A.F. fighters which escorted the bombers is missing, though they destroyed five enemy fighters. Many squadrons of Allied fighters made supporting and diversionary sweeps diuing the operation.
