[?] BOMBERS

HYING MOTOR-CYCLES,"

Kle.

LONDON, Oct. 11.

^^^^K'ised Russian midget night ■ which the Russians describe ■ng motor-eycles" and the Has "Russian match-boxes." Hi nsed with good effect on gr a d front. ^^How correspondent describes Hn imp-ro vised type of transH which was used some 15 H known as the U2, Built of Hand canvas, they have a H^Ko to 90 miles an hour. They

are used only at night, and are capable of great bombing accuracy. They can pick out a single house held by the Germans and bomb it, whereas the1 German heavy bombers would be forced to regard an entire area as a target at night. They have been nick-named by the Russians because they sound like motor-cycles going* uphill over a, bad road. The Russian maehines are specially good at throwing bombs into ra, vines where German troops shelter for the night, When the Germans realised the low speed of the "motor-cycles," it is sald that, their A.A. fire improved, but- now the Russian pilots l'ide over the target with their engines cut off. One of the best features of the bombers, is- their abdlity to land at, low speeds in the dark. They need only two small lamps as, a flarepath, so the German bombers cannot detect their airflelds and bomb thern.
