RESTORATION OF CUT
AUCKLAND FIRE BOARD. APPEAL TO MINISTER !

AUCKLAND, June 27. The Auckland Meropolitan Fire Board to-day dlscussed the restoration of the staff wages cut, and decided to as,k the Minister'for Finance wbether it would be permissible tq take such action. The chairman (Mr J. J. Kingsto i) said the City Council had c^r.e something and it was suggested tha! the Fire Board also could do soir ething. The restoration of the cut wculd make for a return of confidence in the city. To restore 5 per cent- would cost £950. Mr A. G. Lunn said the Board should wait for a lead from tne Government. It would be ab-surd to restore the cut when 70,090 men were unemployed, as they d^ferved first sympathy. ■ After discussion it was resclved to write to the Ministex.
