Mr A. R i tts on-Thom as, of Ti.rohanga. is a guest at the Criterion Hotel. Messrs F. A. Wedde, of Balclutha, and H. E. Wedde, of Oamaru, are visiting Blenheim in connection with Ihe death of Mr A. A. Wedde. Miss R. Holdaway, of High street, who had the misfortune to fracture her right ankle when she slipped on the 'wdoorstep' at her home during the week-end, is progressing satisfactorily. The injury was ta severe one, thi>e breaks occurring in the .ankle. / The news of the death of Mr D. McCallum, J.P., of St. Leonards, at the Wairau Hospital late this morning will come as a sad shock to the community. The late Mr McCallum, who only . recently returhed from Christchurch, where he had undergone an operation, »was admitted to the hospital yesterday and succumbed to-day following a further operation. He was a prominent public man and a sitting member of the Wellington Education Board, the Marlborough Hospital Board, the Springlands School Committee, and had served for long periods on other local and public bodies, including the Marlborough County Council and the old Omaka Road Board. He was also a foundation member of. the Marlborough Justices' Association.

Mr W. J. Fuller, who is being transferred to the Wellington branch oi the Bank of New South Wales, was suitably farewelled by members of the Opawa Football Club at an executive meeting of the club held, last evening at the Masonic Hotel. The president (Mr H. V. Lark) presented Mr Fuller with a gold cigarette rase, suitably engraved, and also a serviceable ash tra^ on behalf of the club members and supporters, Reference was made of Mr Fuller's services as treasurer of the club for several years, and as captaln of the junior A tearn, his capabilities as an all-round sport, and his valuable services to the club also being commehted upon. Other speakers were Messrs A. Dunckley (delegate), J. Dixon and S. MclCay (vice-presidents) , N. Neville and B. Hill. Mr Fuller leaves tomorrow to take up his new position.
