A large crowd assembled- at the Gisborne A and P. Show Ground recently to witness a camp drafting competition in which the entrants were required to work a bullock round a figure eight course without the assistance of dogs or whips, and with only two pegs to guide them. This was the first ccmpetition of the kind to be held in New Zealand, and an interesting feature was that several women riders took part. Many of the riders had considerable difficulty with their beasts. The perversity of some of the bullocks proved highly entertaining for the spectators, though exasperating for the competitors. Miss Diana Rutledge was adjudged the winner, out of 30 entrants. At a very fast pace this rider worked a bullock round a perfect figure eight course, and was given an ovation by the large gathering.
