ROAD PAVING LOANS

ELLESMERE AND SELWYN COUNTIES. Official consent to the raising of a loan of £1240 by tlie Ellesmere County Council for meeting part of the cost of paving the Rolleston-Rakaia section of the Christchurch-Duiiedin main highway is announced in the New Zealand Gazette. The loan may be raised for a term of seven years, the rate of interest is not to exceed 4 per cent., and the loan must be repaid in equal yearly or half-yearly instalments extending over the period of seven years. Similar conditions have been imposed on the raising of a loan of £1700 by the Selwyn Count.y Council to meet the cost of its share of the paving work. i
